Professor Jonatan Leer

Jonatan Leer is a Professor of applied sciences and head of food and tourism research at Örebro University (Sweden). He was previously an assistant professor in culture and consumption at Aalborg University (Denmark). He has published widely on food culture in journals such as Food and Foodways, Food Culture and Society, Anthropology of Food and European Journal of Cultural Studies. He has authored three books in Danish and edited the books Food and Media (Routledge, 2016) and Research Method in Digital Food Studies (Routledge, 2021) and contributed to 10+ anthologies including Alternative Food Politics (Routledge, 2018), Food and Popular Culture (Bloomsbury, 2017) and Food Instagram (Bloomsbury, 2022). Jonatan has been a visiting lecturer at the University of Gastronomic Sciences in Pollenzo, Italy, 2016-2021, and is a member of the Danish Academy of Gastronomy. He is also very active in innovation research communications including numerous podcasts, festival appearances and play writing.
